With the support of RTVE, RTVC, ICO, and CREASGR, as well as funding from ICAA, the European Union – Next Generation EU, and the Government of the Canary Islands, SuperKlaus stood as a testament to the growing prestige of Spanish animation on the international stage.

At the 2025 Goya Awards, Mariposas Negras took home the prize for Best Animation Film, bringing well-deserved recognition to the Canary Islands and Tenerife’s growing film industry. 

The director of Mariposas Negras also delivered an emotional tribute to his hometown, Garachico, highlighting how incredible films can emerge from small, unexpected places.

Though SuperKlaus did not take home the award, the nomination itself was a massive achievement, proving once again that the Canary Islands are a powerhouse in the animation industry.
